The idea came from B-Flex (?) imagery (Kenneth Knowlton, Lillian
Schwartz) and perhaps I had seen Crystal Paint (Mac). Nick Kent
described the effect as "Brownian motion" when I was explaining to
him what I wanted to do, and I think that's an accurate point of reference. I
first wrote something like this in 1995, and later worked it into a
1998 piece called Balance.
